DELF-DALF

What is DELF/DALF?

DELF (Diplôme d’Etudes en Langue Française) and DALF (Diplôme Approfondi de Langue Française) are official qualifications awarded by the French Ministry of Education to certify the competency of candidates from outside France in the French language.

There are 3 different versions of DELF which cater to different age groups.

DELF Prim for 7 years and above (Primary school students)

DELF Junior for 11 to 17 year olds (Secondary and Senior Secondary School students)

DELF Tout Public for 18 years and above (Adults)

Depending on the version chosen, the examinee is evaluated on age-appropriate topics, the skills and the level assessed remaining the same.

How many levels do DELF and DALF have?

DELF and DALF are composed of 6 independent diplomas that correspond to the 6 levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

The diplomas that make up DELF and DALF are completely independent. This means that candidates can register for the examination of their choice, according to their level.

At each level, 4 skills are evaluated: listening, speaking, reading and writing.

 

 

DELF A1

Beginner’s Level Prim, Junior, Tout Public Can take part in basic & factual communication
DELF A2
DELF B1 Independent Level Junior, Tout Public Can communicate with fluency with native speakers
DELF B2
DALF C1 Proficient or Advanced level Tout Public Can deal with a wide range of topics with a good amount of fluency and a variety of expressions.
